Working from home!!!!?????

Working from home is a commonly used term in the corporate world as of today. It was not even thought of a decade ago. The fundamental discipline of coming into the office, to a work environment is totally lost in this new era. While it is understandable to see such requests on rare occasions and with extreme reasoning and prior approvals, the system seems to be exploited and the end result, the tendency is not to work while at home.

People need to be careful and reasonable in terms of abusing the privilege that the genuine ones also gets perceived to be using Work from home as a venue not to take leave and not work for that day.

  1. Work from Home is literally and rigorously followed in Western part of the globe, where virtual teams exist at a large extent, and they tend to have disciplined their thought processes to really work(!!!) while at home.
I have seen some of my colleagues who move to their home office right when the clock strikes 8:30 am on weekdays; not to even take a phone call while 'at work'; they come out only for a time-bound lunch break, and return to family not before 5 pm.
Sadly the version that we are used to experience in our country is another name of a paid holiday! We see people logged in, more often than not in 'away' state, working sometimes in the middle of long breaks (read personal time)!
It's all in the mind, you see! And still we frown at being called a Third World citizen!
